The panda, also known as the giant panda, is native to China and can be found in the mountainous regions of Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu provinces. Pandas mainly inhabit bamboo forests at elevations of 5,000 to 10,000 feet (1,500 to 3,000 meters) above sea level. They have a very limited range, with only about 1,800 pandas remaining in the wild. Additionally, some pandas can be found in zoos and conservation centers around the world.
